What the hell. It's only money, right?

A few weeks ago I started planning a road trip to Phoenix. Since then, the plan has fallen apart at several of its weaker joints.

One of the weak joints is the price of gas OHMYGOD.

Gas plus hotels for all those nights would cost way, way more than flying--even first class. So that's what I'm gonna do. Nonstop flights, actual leg room, drinkies--First Class, baby. I've heard it's fabulous.

And when I arrive? I'm renting a convertible. So there. Tax refunds rock.

PS to owzers and thecaelum: Dinners are on me.

Don't get LOST. Come back to us safe and sound, unless you are 'of' the island. In that case, you probably won't be sound.

Yeah, nobody on that island is really sound, when you come right down to it. Fortunately, I'm only flying over land.

Hey, that reminds me: I'd better check to make sure I won't be missing an ep while I'm gone. Locke wouldn't like that, and I DON'T want to piss him off.

Hey Babycakes! Dinner will be enchiladas at my house, and let us not forget the homemade Belgian waffles with whipped cream and strawberries and bananas, which we might end up having for lunch. However, I'll let you take me to my favorite spot for breakfast before you head out! You certainly won't starve whilst in my company - I was born in Minnesota and we know how to feed our company, and guilt trip them into having seconds, and then bringing out the huge dessert. Heh heh heh.

Convertibles are the ONLY way to travel in this state. Good call. See ya soon!

I'm looking forward to it! I'm staying in Carefree. Is Scottsdale a good place for us to meet?

Because Skripka's restaurant recommendation a couple of comments downstream sounds wonderful.

Restaurants to try in the Phoenix area:

(and if it weren't for a certain someone, can I say I wish I was there to meet you finally? stupid someone.)

Wong's Place. (Baseline Road, Tempe) Hands down, the best Chinese food. Be sure and get the Chinese menu. Salt and pepper pork, snow pea greens, Szechuan eggplant are my recs.

Pita Jungle: There are a couple of locations, but the one on Apache in Tempe is the original. Delicious, healthy stuff to cleanse your system after eating all the late night greasy In & Out burgers and Filiberto's Mexican. The one million beans pita is good, but will last for about three meals.

Carlsbad Tavern: Hayden Road, South Scottsdale. New Mexican cuisine. Spicy, good beer, and the chocolate bread pudding is to die for.

Thanks! And duly noted. I LOVE New Mexican food and will mapquest Carlsbad Tavern (extra points for the name) from my hotel.

Wish you could be there too. But one of these days...
