Room for improvement

A couple of people have wondered what I've been eating in my quest to lose lots and lots of weight, and a couple of others have wondered how I create a varied menu for myself.

So I had a look at the data, and the short version is: I eat whatever I want, and there isn't a lot of variety.

Here's what I've eaten ten times or more since I started tracking in October:

2% Milk, 85
Milk Chocolate, 56
Plain Yogurt 2% (strained), 53
Extra Sharp White Cheddar Cheese, 47
Dried blueberries, 44
Sugar, 44
Basmati Rice, 41
Gluten Free Bread, 38
Bacon, 28
Russet Potato, 28
Garam Masala Chocolate Ginger Cookies, Gluten Free, 23
Marcona almonds, 23
Apple, 22
Marmite, 21
Boeuf Bourguignon, 20
Tuna, Canned, 20
Mayonnaise, 17
Pork, 17
Fried Eggs, 16
Parmesan Cheese, 16
Butter, 15
Sesame Oil, 15
Hashed Browns, 14
Olive Oil, 13
Tamari Reduced Salt Soy Sauce, 13
Beef Pot Roast, 12
Dijon Mustard, 11
Rice Cake, 11
Creamy Natural Peanut Butter, 10
Gluten Free Eight Grain Hot Cereal With Fruit & Nuts, 10
kale, raw, 10

Boy, do I need to eat more vegetables! And less fat.

The milk and sugar are all in either tea or coffee. The blueberries are all in my morning yogurt. I gave up both butter and peanut butter after the first couple of weeks, so those numbers are old. Similarly, the bacon and fried egg are mostly from the early days of the diet--I've learned that once a week is the most I can afford of that kind of thing.

There's lots of room for improvement here, clearly, but the fact is that by stinting on the portions and not on the deliciousness, I've lost almost 30 pounds in less than three months.

I'm so glad I didn't try to go on a perfect health regimen! This way, I can stick with it till I lose the weight I want to lose, and bring improvements to my diet as I go along.

Edited to add: I just noticed how heavy on the umami I am: cheese, Marmite, soy sauce, roast meats and nuts...you'd think I had kind of a glutamic acid addiction or something.
