God, I admire Greg Palast

The only thing even a tiny bit good in Greg Palast's March 17 report is that the neocons lost out in a big backroom deal.

Sadly, it was Big Oil that won.

Greg Palast is like the last living journalist. "The Bush administration made plans for war and for Iraq's oil before the 9/11 attacks sparking a policy battle between neo-cons and Big Oil, BBC's Newsnight has revealed."

Some of the more conspiracy-minded of my contacts have been saying since, like, late in the day on September 11, 2001, that we'd go to war in Iraq over oil, the least cynical among them suspecting that the 9/11 attacks made a convenient "reason" to do what was already planned.

Seems the tinfoil hats were right. It's bizarre how often that happens.
