Is anyone else watching Terriers from FX? Someone recommended it (my sister, maybe?--it's been a busy week) and I just watched the first episode without any context, not even so much as a peek at IMDB.

I was going to turn it off after five minutes because it threatened to be a lame buddy-cop (well, investigator) comedy-drama about a couple of screwups who can't make a dime. Then it got deeper, and darker, and subtler, and more interesting, and I couldn't stop watching.

The acting is terrific--Donal Logue, whose face is super familiar to me in that "Hey! It's That Guy!" kind of way, brings some real nuance to the lead role of Hank. But he's got some great writing to work with: natural-seeming dialog some very funny lines.

I'm going to watch the second ep now. Woo hoo! Good TV.

Ah yes, Abigail said it was good too. It's al new series in the US at the moment isn't it? Interesting to see what develops.

Yes, I guess it just started on the F/X cable network. I'm on episode two now, which just aired, and I'm finding it really engaging, with some very funny moments.

I saw promos for that, and promptly forgot to watch. I'll have to look for it On Demand.

It's not a show I'd become fannish about per se, or breathlessly await the next episode, but I've enjoyed the first two eps very much for their good writing and acting.

If there is anything new to say about two white guys fighting (and committing) crime--well, there isn't, but at least Terriers says it cleverly and with heart.

i watched the first ep and thought it was pretty good, but i didn't think it was good enough to keep me watching. but, then i found out that tim minear is on this series and the talk around the internets is that it gets better and even darker. also, that tim wasn't involved in the pilot.

i'm dvr-ing it so hopefully i'll get to watch at some point.

Tim Minear! Yes--that was it. I knew there was some reason why somebody said I might be interested, and it definitely has that Minear level of quality writing.

After watching the first two eps, I'm not sure I'll make it "appointment viewing" because it's not genre at all and I'm not likely to be fannish about it, but it's very watchable, and a cut above any other police/detective show out there right now.

I'm watching. So far, I'm intrigued, but not fully enthralled. I like the characters so far though, which is the biggest step to falling in love with a show for me.

Good characterization is key, isn't it?

I watched the first two episodes, but have found myself sidetracked by fluffier, more fannish stuff this week. Merlin, mostly. I'm such a lightweight!

Donal Logue was in one of my most favorite tv shows ever, Life. Have you seen that? It's terrific.

I haven't--hadn't even heard of it, but I just looked it up, and it sounds wonderful. Donal Logue is a hell of an actor.
