Mudroom: The Continuation

I got an estimate this morning on Project Mudroom: The Continuation. And it was an estimate I could actually live with.

Several years ago I excavated the untenable little vest-pocket back yard of my house, put in some hardscaping, built a fountain, added a table and chairs, electrical outlets and a drip watering system, planted some showy plants, and generally made it into a a summer dining room.

Then Evil New Neighbor moved in next door, tore down the charming old barn-red garage that formed one wall of my little outdoor room, and replaced it with a hideous, enormous, white, glaring, horrible garage, during the construction of which he ruined my drip system, used my water for his concrete mixing, trampled my plants, broke my fence and generally proved himself an Evil New Neighbor To Whom I Now Do Not Speak.

Then my mudroom, through which one must go to get to the back yard from the kitchen, began to decay, and the back door failed and I had to screw it shut and block it from my mind.

So, not surprisingly, the blackberries and the wild clematis and the bamboo took over, and weeds sprouted up between the pavers, and now it looks like this:

Backyard Jungle

Today's estimate was to have people whose hands and knees are not as hurty as mine have become come and make it all nice again. If you were to think that photos might not ensue, you would be sadly mistaken.
