Though I've left most of my mysticism behind, I'm still very interested in the symbolism and meaning of things that pop into my awareness. When it's a bird or animal, I'm always curious to learn if that creature has a totemic significance.

I studied shamanism (in its outsider, Western/Northern "woo-woo" variant) for a while. I've been the recipient of a couple of shamanic journeys.

The scrub jay as a totem conveys lessons about delayed gratification, non-standard family arrangements, theft and appropriation, and life in marginal or scrub spaces in the urban environment.
