It's almost Friday

I rode Eleanor O to Clever Cycles today at lunchtime to have a couple of small adjustments made (notably, getting the brake levers a little less manly a distance from the handlebar grips).

While there, I got a rear-view mirror, an additional lock for those paranoid parking situations, and a new pannier-style basket.

The lock looks like something out of Transformers.

The basket is deep, grocery-sized and woven of natural baskety fiber, and hangs from the rear rack. It sticks up a bit, and it wasn't till I got on and started riding back to work that I realized it bumps into my butt. Or, you know, vice-versa. I think moving the hooks on the basket will be easier and faster than losing 30 lbs, so that's what I'm gonna do.

If this workday ever ends it will be a miracle. *looks at clock* Okay, I'm leavin'. Cross your fingers that the Muse of Writing Chapter 31 will visit me this evening.

Ha, I knew you were talking about the Abus Bordo lock when you mentioned transformers :) You'll have to let me know how secure you feel with it. Is it much lighter and easier to carry than the big Abus chain? I've been considering getting one for my Betty Foy.

Good luck with your muse!

So far, I've found no occasion to use the Bordo lock. I park in a secure garage during the day and my chain lock feels adequate for that, and for quick runs into the grocery store. At night, I park in my back yard, which while not very secure, IS invisible from the street, and there I have no place to affix the Bordo.

But I carry it around on the frame, and I'm sure I'll find a use for it one of these days!
