Four things I've enjoyed lately

  1. I had dinner with [personal profile] dine last night at Russell Street Bar-B-Que. Her fannish roots are deep, deep, deep, and she catches me up on the latest in hockey fandom and the earliest in stuff like zines and cons of yore. It's always a breath of fresh air.

  2. Mint! It hooks up to your accounts, logs all your money stuff, gives you little electric shocks notices when you're on the brink of madness with Sephora or Ross Dress4Less (ask me how I know), and generally chivvies you toward fiscal responsibility. Great customer service, too. (Mint is part of Intuit, my annual tax painkiller.)

  3. The following flow chart, which I am at this very minute defying:
Humorous flowchart about writing, where all actions flow to Shut Up And Write The Book
Nevertheless, I am making progress on the Restraint rewrite. (Thanks, by the way, to karen_jk for some lovely chapter-by-chapter feedback with the rewrite in mind.)

  4. Winter in Portland. It has its downside, nobody's gonna argue, but lately it's been cold and dry. The exhilaration of riding my bike in the cold, the freedom of the paths, the not-sweating--I love it. I took a lunchtime ride the other day to play tourist on the aerial tram, a Portland feature I'd not yet experienced.

Bike Parking at the Tram Station
I parked. (Eleanor O is way back there by the "Go By Bike" sign.)

    Here comes the tram.

View over Portland looking north from the Tram
    I went up.

    from the tram
    And up.

(The tram's sole destination is OHSU, the vast, labyrinthine medical complex perched at the top of the Cascadia Subduction Zone for when the magnitude 9 earthquake hits, but meanwhile, nice views.)

A Portland food cart, Hot Box Asian Grill, with its owner
And when I got back down I had some delicious lunch at the Hotbox Asian Grill, one of Portland's gajillion food carts. No MSG! And super nice people.

50 Shades
There's a niche for a company called Inuit to corner the Snow Processing market.

BTW: Does your journal title mean that you watch TV even though you know there's a better course?

Re: 50 Shades
Yup! It used to be Latin for "oh gawd I'm watching the Vampire Diaries" but I eventually bailed on it.

Yay, the tram! I've been riding it once or twice a month lately because of glaucoma appointments, so I'm becoming familiar. I recognized the bike racks right away. :-)

Hi! I'm so, so, so behind in LJ reading and I didn't know about this glaucoma thing! I'm reading back a bit and seeing your posts (including the one back in October where you ask people what they do when they're so far behind reading their flist that it's causing anxiety and guilt and avoidance--heh.)

So anyway, I'm glad you're getting treatment up at OHSU, but I'm awfully sorry to hear that you've got this scary condition. I'm reading about it now and I hope your treatments are arresting the progression.

Hugs to you!
