Diet Day 218



I seem to be embarking on a repeat of February's month-long plateau. This time, it's not freaking me out so much. Here's why:

Lots more data, lots more perspective. The red line is the trend. The gray spiky line is actual daily weights. The yellow dotted line is my "planned" weight loss. Overall interpretation: "Relax. You're doing fine."

I would LOVE not to record my weight on the days when it goes up--it fucks with the trend line and makes me sad. But I'm so glad I've stuck with my plan and logged both weight and food every day, because the numbers prove that these little slowdowns are not the result of unconscious backsliding or secret overeating.

The numbers let me say with confidence, even on unconfident-feeling days, that the laws of physics haven't been suspended, and that yes, overall, if energy out exceeds energy in, fat loss does ensue. It's quite orderly at the macro level, even though it may feel a bit quirky here on the ground on days like today.
