Here's what Amazon sent me today

Ha ha ha! At least it doesn't say "110" which it totally would have in 1975 when I first started really hating myself for weighing, like, 170.

Seriously, if a fit and not-too-skinny model had appeared on a package like this when I was that age, with the number 160 showing on the sample scale, I might have been a whole lot more self-accepting.

But my formative image of acceptable beauty and glamor was:

...and the idea of seeing a figure of 160 lbs mentioned anywhere in connection with health or beauty was just non-existent. Nobody weighed that much, from what I could tell. A bathroom scale didn't go much above 200 lbs in those days, either.

So anyway, my new Precision Plus EatSmart bathroom scale with gigantor 4" readout for the somewhat bleary-eyed, middle-aged self-weigher, is now in the house, and by Monday morning, I hope to have worked up the courage to step on it and actually look.
