You can't take the street from me

I made a new crossover icon. I love crossover icons.

I don't usually do gratuitous icon posts, but everyone seemed to like the hot naked chick on a bike that I proposed as an icon yesterday, so here's the result.

Still a very steep hill to climb in learning GIMP. I'd like the text to follow a curved path more in keeping with the source French poster art, but this will do for the moment.

This entry is cross-posted from DarkEmeralds on Dreamwidth.

Ooh! You're a GIMPer? You do your own book covers, don't you?

I'm VERY impressed. I covet your knowledge and aspire to it. Thank you for the hint on text-along-path trick. I think I need an additional plug in because that menu item is grayed out. I shall go on the hunt.

Oh thank you! Good resource. My problem with fiddling about is that it seems to come from a very different mindset to what I'm used to (Corel Graphics Suite--used it for YEARS till Windows crashed on me), so I was just tearing my hair out trying to find things that don't actually exist as such in GIMP.

I'm having a great time reconfiguring my mind!

I hope you will! There's a great community on DW, too: GIMP_gate, where I'm sure a tutorial would be most welcome.

There does seem to be a more fundamental compatibility between the open source world and Dreamwidth, than with LJ. I hope you'll re-post your tutorial on and help keep the community active. Me, I'm just on the taking end right now and don't have much to offer.

I can't believe I haven't been on LJ since getting this new computer! Anyway, I finally remembered all my info so I could get logged in.

Love the logo's you have going! Sorry I've been ex-communicato lately. Seems like it's been a long week. I've been working on tax returns and barely came up for air. I have a vague notion we may have talked about a biking experience for today but I comepletely flaked out on it. SO, let's try and make plans for another weekend soon. Next Saturday is the first day of Spring, maybe that's a good omen for planning a bike ride?

I had tomorrow in my mind as our bike ride day, but it's been a hell of a week for me too, and I'm looking forward to the down time. Next weekend looks much better for me.

I rode clear out to FuBonn today, the big Asian market on SE 82nd near Powell. I wanted to check out their supply of non-wheat flours. Cycled home with teff flour, sweet rice flour, white rice flour, soy flour, tapioca flour, and some great Hawaiian sea salt. People have been telling me that the prices are lower and the quality higher at Asian markets than from Bob's Red Mill--finer grinds, etc. I will let you know.

Anyway, sore knees now! The ride from here to SE 82nd and Powell includes at least a little piece of Mt Tabor's shoulder, no matter how you slice it, and I got a workout!

Thank you! Am now learning how to make a photograph look like an oil painting. Very tricky.
